After one reminder, if they interrupt a lesson, disturb their classmates or sit through a class writing activity without something to write with, they will receive a lunch detention.

*The money raised from pencil sales goes toward the 8th grade field trip.

8th Grade - Students read in their books for 15 minutes and a student gave a BookShare. I told students some basics about the 8th grade Writing Test which will be administered at the end of this month and answered student questions about this. Then students were given 3 sample student papers that were actually submitted from a past writing test. I asked students to read each paper with their group and to do the following: -Identify and give examples of how this author used ethos, pathos and logos. What do you think the author did well? How could the author improve this essay?

Students worked in groups to answer these questions about each paper in their Writer's Notebooks. Any mobiles turned in after today will be subject to the late work penalty.

Homework: Read! Reading Folders will be collected on Thursday, December 4th.

8th GRADE NEW TUTORIAL TIME! MONDAYS 8-8:30 am

Due to what I anticipate will be a high need for help in writing magnet program application essays, I have added another tutorial. This tutorial will be every Monday morning from 8-8:30 am. It is ONLY for eighth graders and it is ONLY a writing tutorial. I am still keeping my Tuesday afternoon tutorial for students who are not eighth graders and for students who need help with other ELA related concerns. Please note that I will still, of course, help students with their writing during Tuesday tutorials and that eighth graders can still come to the Tuesday tutorial but the Monday tutorial is a chance for me to work exclusively with the eighth graders to help them refine their writing skills.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://caponeela.blogspot.com/2008/11/8th-grade-new-tutorial-time-mondays-8.html' title='8th GRADE NEW TUTORIAL TIME!
